The Seebeck effect, discovered in 1821 is still the basis of all thermocouples manufactured under NTC or PTC.

Field calibration of thermocouples can never be as accurate as the calibration in a laboratory. The oven we use is calibrated and accredited according to the R.v.A.

We can supply all thermocouples in the types J, K, T, N, R, S and B.; each of these types is made from different materials. Once unspecified, one generally chooses class 2, but we can think with you to create an engineered solution. With technical specification we can help you to design the thermocouple you need.

The thermocouples that are used in gas turbines are usually of the type J or K, specified ansi 91 and for example made of SS 321 material. The thermocouples we supply are manufactured in conformance with the OEM specifications. But as these thermocouples are mounted on the bearings, or measure the exhaust temperature of the GT, you may want to take the type of gas into consideration; do you burn high- or low- caloric gas ? This calls for a tailor-made solution, just like the temperature range in general defines the mineral insulated cable. For problems such as thrift of a thermocouple you’ll need to contact our team.

Besides calibration, which might be an expensive process, we can have all thermocouples made from one large wire. By doing that, we know for sure that each individual thermocouple will perform the same; we will only need to calibrate the wire, and not each individual thermocouple.

PT 100 elements can be manufactured from an outer diameter of 0.15 mm. On the bearing side a rather new development is that these elements can be casted in the white metal. Thermowells are ofcourse a related product.

And are manufactured with an Apex approved construction, in accordance with IEC, CSA/us and Gost R or K regulations. They can be custom made, with or without thermowell, for Siemens and GE turbines and any other application. They are available in the temperature range of -200 to 1200 degrees Celsius.

Thermocouple wire is sold per roll of 50 meters / 150 ft. 4-, 8-, and 12- paired cable of type JX and KX is available from stock.
